Extreme cosmetic surgery makeovers

A woman may decide to have a tummy tuck after having kids and find the procedure to be fairly painless, so she decides to move onto breast augmentation, liposuction or rhinoplasty. According to the American Society for Plastic Surgeons, business from “repeat” patients grew by 23 percent from 2010 to 2011. Some people, in their attempt to reach their idea of perfection, become addicted to altering their bodies via vanity surgeries.

Cosmetic or “vanity” surgery is no longer just for the rich and famous. But, the rich and famous still set the standard for what’s acceptable. Although there are a few celebrities whose physical appearances have been altered in a sudden and radical manner, most choose a discreet nip and tuck. And then there are those that take cosmetic surgery to a whole other level, some of whom actually gained their celebrity straight from the procedures. Below are some of the most infamous cases of extreme cosmetic surgery makeovers.

Heidi Montag - After going under the knife for rhinoplasty and breast augmentation in 2007, Montag revealed to People in January 2010 that in November 2009, she had received a total of 10 cosmetic procedures including another rhinoplasty and breast augmentation, neck liposuction, buttocks augmentation, a mini-brow lift and a chin reduction performed in one day. Montag has since come forward and announced intense regret for undergoing the surgeries.

Dennis Avner (a.k.a. The Cat Man of Whidbey Island and Stalking Cat) is a native of Michigan and in 2005 shared a home with friends on Whidbey Island in Washington. Avner prefers to go by his Native American name, Stalking Cat and perhaps this could serve as the reason for his extreme makeover that begin in 1980. Avner has undergone numerous body-modifying procedures that include nose and brow implants, several silicone injections, a lip-splitting surgery, a procedure to give him pointy ears and a tattooing to “stripe” his body. He has also had all of his teeth removed and replaced with fanged dentures and 18 piercing above his lip that he can attach whiskers to.

Amanda Lepore is probably the most successful transgender actress and model in the business. But being transgender has nothing to do with this girl’s fame or in this case infamy. Lepore has undergone extensive procedures including breast augmentations, liquid silicone injected into her forehead, buttocks, hips and most famously, her lips. All of which have given Lepore a wax-like appearance.

Jocelyn Wildenstein (a.k.a Cat Woman and the Bride of Wildenstein) was married to New York art dealer, Alec Wildenstein. Allegedly, Jocelyn had extensive surgeries in an attempt to look like a cat and all of this was done to please her former husband who loved big cats. Alec divorced her in 1999. The 71-year-old socialite definitely achieved a scary catlike appearance, which is what has brought her infamy and Jocelyn claims to be happy with her appearance.

Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (born Neil Megson in 1950) – To say that people do strange things for love is understatement in this instance. British industrial musician and performance artist P-Orridge and his late wife, Jacqueline Breyer (a.k.a. Lady Jaye), marked their 10-year anniversary by embarking on a journey to literally become each other through a series of cosmetic surgeries. on Valentine’s Day 2003 when P-Orridge and Lady Jaye received matching breast implants. Next came nose and cheek jobs, liposuction, cheek and chin implants and other procedures that helped the couple transform. Although Lady Jaye passed away in 2007, P-Orridge continues on with the project, transforming himself into his late wife through cosmetic surgery and body modification.
