Fred, the extremely abused dog whose testicles had been removed with a knife and then abandoned on a street in Chattanooga, is reported to have survived his surgery on Friday to repair the extensive damage done to his scrotum. The Tennessee pooch was barely responsive when found on the side of the road lying in a pool of blood.
This was a senseless act of animal cruelty. Someone used a knife and cut a line across the dog's testicles.
As Fred's story hit social media, and the choices for Fred narrowed down to either immediate expensive surgical repair or euthanization, animal lovers from everywhere came forward to donate to the sweet, innocent victim of egregious animal abuse. Donations flooded in for Fred's surgery; an honorable and compassionate outpouring of support for a lost, mixed breed dog whose life indeed counts.
Late Friday night, Wally's Friends announced on their Facebook page:
She confirmed our thoughts that this had happened approximately one week ago, and within a short time, and no intervention he would have been dead due to septicemia. (infection) He was definitely cut with a knife, both testicles had been removed. Can you imagine the agony!! We cannot understand or stop cruelty but we can respond to it and continue to attempt to change it.
Experts think someone had tried to neuter Fred. No one has come forward with any information as to the real identity of Fred or information leading to his owner.
Fred continues to receive get well wishes and offers to foster and adopt. His medical expenses have been covered, but his recovery is expected to be expensive. If you would like to help, please click here.
