The luscious scents of Penhaligon’s Quercus body products will soon grace the staterooms aboard Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria. The global cruise line is adding body lotion, shower get, shampoo and conditioner to its bathrooms by way of a Royal Warrant that is awarded to a company that supplies services or goods to a member of the United Kingdom’s Royal Family. Only senior members of the Royal Family bestow Warrants, which the companies that receive them may proudly display.
The Quercus scent, created in 1996, is named after the English oak to embody strength, tradition and essential Englishness through musk and sandalwood base notes warmed with jasmine and cardamom and topped with citrus and bergamot that diffuse an elegant and uplifting fragrance with equal appeal to men and women.
Queen Elizabeth will be the first to feature Quercus products followed by Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2 in the summer of 2014. Due to passenger demand the shower gel and shampoo will be packaged in larger sizes, while body lotion and conditioner will be in smaller bottles. Soaps will also be provided and all items will be replenished as required.
Passengers booked in Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites accommodation, and the top suites will be treated to a Scent Library containing 10 samples from across Penhaligon’s fragrance spectrum.
“With its intriguing mix of tradition and modernity, the classic and the quirky, Penhaligon’s perfectly accords with the distinctly British feel of our three ships,” said David Dingle, CEO for Cunard Line. “We are very happy to be working with Penhaligon’s, which like Cunard has a distinguished history and long association with the Royal family.”
Penhaligon’s has been “entertaining England’s nostrils” since 1870, and the spirit of founder William Penhaligon touches everything the company does today. Its scents are still made and bottled in England using the highest quality ingredients. Penhaligon’s is proud to hold two Royal Warrants: from HRH The Prince of Wales (granted in 1988) and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh (granted in 1956).
