Extra Magic Hours at Walt Disney World explained

If you have been trying to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World in Florida you may have heard the term "Extra Magic Hours". If you have never visited Disney before you might wonder what that is all about. Extra Magic Hours are easy to understand. Knowing a bit about them might help you to better plan your trip.

Extra Magic Hours are one of the perks of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. Each day at least one park will open at least an hour early or stay open up to three hours late. Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel will be able to spend that time in the park in question. You will need your room key in order to ride. Each day there is at least one Extra Magic Hour but during the busy times of the year more than one park might be participating. There is no set schedule for which park has which days.

If you are staying on Disney property you might want to take advantage of the program. While not all rides will be open, the most popular ones will be and the lines will be much shorter.

If you are not staying on Disney property you will also want to pay attention to which park is offering Extra Magic Hours, especially during the morning. If the Magic Kingdom, for example, has been open for an hour before the general public is allowed in the lines for popular attractions such as Space Mountain will begin to form before you enter the park. An hour's worth of FASTPASSES will be gone as well.
