Fashion Week is off to a fabulous start as events are taking place not only at Lincoln Center in New York City, but in other areas of the city as well, such as trendy Soho, the scene for fashionistas with a style of their own.
The week also gives emerging designers on the cusp of fame an opportunity to shine for the world to witness. Urban Cricket is one of those newer brands that stick in your memory and your heart for the unique individuality that the pieces convey. It is a label developed by a pair of roommates in a small New York City apartment to the sounds of garbage trucks barreling down East 28th Street in the very early morning hours. Amazingly, creativity began taking shape rather quickly and drawings were made, concepts were created and silkscreening was learned. In April of 2009, the first folding table was set up right in Union Square to test the fashion waters.
The products are designed and illustrated by Gloria and Audrey and hand printed largely in their studio/store at 29 Essex Street in New York City. Going through their tees, you will find that no two are the exact same. They are all silkscreened by hand and the fabric is 100% cotton.
Fashion fans looking to be noticed and find a means of self-expression through their clothing will be excited to learn that Urban Cricket is bringing you the 2nd Annual 'LES' Opening Night Fashion Show on Sunday, September 8, 2013, styled by Amy Odell of Cosmopolitan.com. It all takes place starting at 6:30 p.m. on Orchard Street between Broome and Grand Streets. In addition, the party gets started at 4:00 p.m. with live music and continue until 8:00 p.m. as the designers share their creations with the crowd. Check out the very latest collection, 'Disgruntled NYC' for a look at the newest craze to hit New York City and soon other cities around the nation. Be a part of something big that is catching on quickly.
