"Oscar García Rivera
He was born in Pinar del Río, Cuba, on October 17, 1914. He studied at the San Alejandro Academy from where he graduated in 1939. He was a raconteur of everyday life in Havana. In 1943, he received a silver medal at the Fine Arts Salon in Havana with his work, Silvia, a portrait of his wife and fellow artist, Silvia Fernández Arrojo (1918-1981). In 1946, he held a one-man exhibit at the Lyceum and Lawn Tennis Club in Havana and exhibited his works at the University Society of Fine Arts in Havana. He also exhibited his works in the United States, at the National Museum in Washington, D.C., in 1947 and in 1948 at the Washington Art Studio Galleries in Miami Beach. He died in Havana, Cuba, on August 27, 1971."
