Hit some hikes in Las Vegas to counter the winter weather woes
Though most people know Las Vegas as the land of indulgence, including buffets, Sin City actually houses a number of opportunities to hit the hiking trail to experience some nature.
Some of the natural hiking areas in and around Las Vegas might surprise you, since they are not all desert; you can actually see some snow, rivers and woods on your Nevada hike.
Red Rock Canyon is one of the best places for families and athletes alike to catch some nature on a Winter day trip from Las Vegas.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
Recently renovated featuring a new gift shop and a number of educational displays to help kids get a sense of the nature in the area, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area has a scenic drive that leads to a bunch of different hikes around the conservation area.
The difficulty in these hikes ranges from easy walking for kids to advanced hiking for the adventurous types. Rock climbers also frequent this area, which makes for good sightseeing as you observe the climbers' struggle up the surface.
In addition to its popularity in the Summer, Red Rock is also a popular day hiking spot in the Winter, when much of the flowing water in the place turns into icecicles and the nearby mountains are dusted in a hefty coating of snow.
