The Nature Conservancy is encouraging everyone in Ohio to get out and explore our state’s great natural wonders. In the Natural Treasures of Ohio Sweepstakes, Ohio residents can win prizes just for visiting the some of the natural landmarks in our own backyard. Prizes include a Honda Insight Hybrid and five $500 gift cards to REI.
To enter the sweepstakes, Ohio residents need only visit one of the natural treasures listed here and upload a photo of themselves at the listed landmark for that site. One may enter once for each natural treasure visited, for a total of thirty possible entries per person. The Entry period runs from May 22 through August 8, with the drawing held on or around August 20.
For those in and around Columbus, the list of natural treasures close to home include four of the Columbus Metro Parks, two sites in the nearby Hocking Hills (Conkle’s Hollow and Ash Cave), and two other local parks (Gahanna Woods and Blackhand Gorge).
The Metro Parks sites are:
- Battelle Darby Creek – Big Darby Creek at the head of the Ancient Trail
- Clear Creek – Leaning Lena
- Pickerington Ponds – Arrowhead Marsh Overlook in the Glacier Knoll Picnic Area
- Scioto Audubon – Observation Deck
