Need a trendy hairstyle for this Friday night or maybe for an upcoming event? Why not steal the super-popular side swept look (you know the one with the deep part) that all the hotties are donning this fall? With a little help from Nick Penna, Master Stylist and Chief Creative Director at Be Styled, the European technique blowdry lounge based in Boston, this look is totally obtainable at home. And, he makes is so easy with just a few tools and a few of his expert hair tips.
You’ll need a few styling tools for this look:
- Volumizing mousse
- Wide tooth comb
- Bobby pins
- 1” or 2” curling iron
- Finishing Spray
1. Start with damp hair and apply a volumizing mousse — Nick suggests the Mousse Bouffante from Kerastase. Since the deep side part was all over the NYFW runaway, grab a wide tooth comb and create a deep side part that best suites you then blowdry as you normally would. Be sure to add a little bit of volume while blowdrying and make sure to keep it smooth and sleek near the root.
2. To keep hair in place over your shoulder, bring your locks to the side furthest from your part and use bobby pins to pin middle sections of the hair to the nape of your neck.
3. Once that is complete, begin to wrap small sections of hair around a one or two-inch curling iron, but make sure to curl only the bottom 3-4 inches of hair (depending on your hair length). To finish off the look, use Laque Dentelle from Kerastase to keep hair in place and you are all set for a night out on the town!
