What does it take to build a productive and passionate team at work?
Obviously, there are no simple or one-size-fits-all answer. But encouraging a corporate culture of passion, innovation, and responsibility can be achieved if the right steps are taken.
Fishbowl CEO David K. Williams recently shared his thoughts on how to establish a culture of committed employees that will help you realize your dreams as an entrepreneur.
Among the sage counsel and pearls of wisdom shared on the North American Bancard blog include:
- Resolve Matters Face to Face
Have an issue with an employee? To avoid feeding the rumor mill and reducing workplace productivity, Williams advises you take that issue directly to your employee without involving anyone else, and without getting personal. “Keep the issue the issue.”
- Take the Stigma Out of Failure
As a payment solutions pioneer who has been at the forefront of the merchant services industry for over two decades, North American Bancard knows how vital innovation is to the success of any business. David K. Williams agrees, revealing that since Fishbowl employees don’t have to worry about the repercussions of the occasional misstep, they can increase the pace of innovation.
- Delegate Smartly
Delegation does not equal assigning tasks and responsibilities you don’t think you have time for and then spending time micromanaging them. Rather it’s about encouraging your employees to find their own paths to successful outcomes. “Give them parameters and let them go.” Williams says.
- Promote a Good Work-Life Balance
Williams cautions business owners that, “work is not the most important part of their employees’ lives.” It is important to encourage employees to take time for the things they are passionate about outside of work. Doing so creates a more dedicated and loyal workforce.
