Prayer is simply communicating with God. That means it should be a two-way conversation. You talk and then you listen to what God is saying to you. A prayer should not be a list of things requested from God. Rather, an effective prayer follows the format using ACTS as an acronym.
Use a direct address to let God know you are talking to Him and not to someone else.
Confess your sins according to 1 John 1:9.
Confession is done early in the prayer so that you may gain access to God.
Thank God for His mighty acts. It pleases God when His children are thankful.
Supplication is making your requests made known to God. It is at this point in your prayer that you can turn your attention to the things you desire from God.
End your prayer in the name of Jesus because we go to God through Jesus Christ according to John 14:6.
God loves to hear from us, and we talk to God through prayer.
