In South Florida, Dr. Lisa Perdue, the owner and founder of Asian Integrative Medicine, helps patients young and old, sick and well, find comfort, healing, energy and peace through various Chinese medicine practices. Dr. Perdue is a board certified Chinese Medicine physician that practices Traditional Chinese Medicine and QiGong (pronounced Chēē-Kung). She customizes treatments using a combination of: acupuncture, deep psycho-emotional release body work, energetic rebalancing, food based healing, medical qigong, medical reflexology, qigong therapeutic exercises, energetic and "non-needle" techniques.
Dr. Perdue began her career aspirations as pre-med student, but found herself enticed to change her major after a friend introduced her to the practice on a whim. “I was at the gym one afternoon and my friend asked me to be his patient for clinic hours. I hesitated – I wasn’t interested in Chinese medicine. Then he said, ‘What if you could feel even better than you do right now?’” Dr. Perdue recalls the initial moment that spiraled her ultimate career into action, “I thought to myself, how can I feel better than I already do? I’m in my twenties, I’m in good shape, I have no health issues – how much better can it really get?” And, it was that question that ignited her curiosity and led Dr. Perdue to assist her friend in the pursuit of his practice.
Two weeks into the program, Dr. Perdue found herself sitting in the Dean’s office switching from pre-med to Chinese Medicine. “I couldn’t believe how good I felt after only two weeks. I wanted to help others feel this good.”
And, over the last ten years, Dr. Perdue has helped hundreds of patients feel amazing and continues her work today in South Florida.
Inside her Boca Raton Chinese Medicine practice, Dr. Perdue offers patients relief and preventive health through a variety of techniques. Her skill set allows her to combine therapies to deliver the most comprehensive plans using:
Acupuncture. As defined by Webster, acupuncture is a system of complementary medicine that involves pricking the skin or tissues with needles, used to alleviate pain and to treat various physical, mental and emotional conditions. Dr. Perdue inserts disposable surgical grade stainless steel needles – as gentle as the whiskers on a cat- at specific anatomical acupuncture points along the meridians that transverse the surface of the body. The needles aid stimulation of the body's natural energy referred to as "Qi" (pronounced "chee"). Qi organizes, regulates and sustains the tissues and functions of the body – it is considered to be the foundation of life. Acupuncture is effective as a routine procedure to restore and maintain proper balance of Qi. Maintaining the flow of Qi strengthens and recuperates individuals suffering from acute and chronic conditions, as well as those seeking preventive healthcare.
Medical QiGong. QiGong literally translates to working with the energy of life or cultivating vital energy. Dr. Perdue uses medical qigong to cleanse, purify and tone the major organs of the body. The practice is effective for treating the root causes of disease, as well as rebalancing the body for mental clarity, optimal health, longevity and emotional well-being. Medical qigong is a natural approach to treating acute and chronic conditions, as well as taking preventive measure for anti-aging and long-term health.
Qigong. Qigong is considered a self-discipline exercise, training or a therapeutic activity that integrates the mind-body healing method using the combination of breath and gentle movements of the body for self-cultivation of qi or energy and healing energy. As a discipline, qigong allows exercisers to expend very little qi or energy, while gaining massive volumes of both. The energy and qi accumulated from qigong activity sessions can be delivered into the body to balance and heal. The benefits of qigong include reducing stress, deepening relaxation, quieting the mind, fighting disease and increase energy, endurance and stamina, while improving cellular functions of the body.
You can begin practicing the qigong discipline by joining Dr. Perdue on Thursday evenings at Sugar Sand Park Community Center at 7pm. The cost is $18 and you must call ahead to reserve your space: 561.347.3900.
