Clevelanders seeking a family-oriented, fun and educational Mother's Day weekend getaway should consider a journey to historic Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio where you can experience what life was like in rural Ohio more than 100 years ago at their annual Spring on the Farm event on Saturday, May 10. It is approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Cleveland.

Historic Sauder Village was established by Eric J. Sauder, the founder of Sauder Woodworking Company (featuring ready-to-assemble furniture). Made up of several historic areas, visitors can witness such activities as sheep shearing, planting, harvesting, food preparation, old printing techniques, canning and preserving and cooking demonstrations during the course of the seasons.

Spring on the Farm All ages can enjoy the day's activities including meeting and greeting baby farm animals, playing old-fashioned games and helping in the garden.

Guests can try their hand at rope making, horseradish grating, window washing and cordage bracelet making.

There will also be live musical entertainment throughout the day from folksinger and storyteller Bob Ford.

Hours for the Spring on the Farm event are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.. Admission is $15 for adults and $8 for students (6-16). Children 5 and under are free. Parking is free.

For those wishing to stay overnight, the Sauder Heritage Inn offers queen/queen rooms, king rooms and suites. Room rates start at $110 per night with AAA, military and senior discounts available. A free upscale continental breakfast is included. The Inn also features an indoor pool with a waterfall, a hot tub and exercise rooms.
