A Bit About Zoar Village Founded in 1817 by a group of German Separatists escaping religious persecution in their native land, Zoar Village was formed to provide a communal society in order to survive in an unfamiliar land. Twenty-four of the original buildings still stand in the historic village.

Christmas in Zoar Among the activities at this holiday event will be horse-drawn wagon rides, tours of four of the private historical homes all bedecked with their holiday finery, a craft show featuring 40 crafters and artisans and the opportunity to see live reindeer.

Visitors will also be able to see a live nativity scene and visit Santa's Workshop where the children will get to make a special holiday item. As guests stroll the streets of the historic village, they will be entertained by carolers and can enjoy live musical entertainment at the historic Zoar church where there will also be a candlelight church service.

Don't miss the tree lighting ceremony being held on Saturday evening.

All of the historic buildings will be open and there will be costumed interpreters giving demonstrations of old- time crafts.

The Village will be handing out free gingerbread cookies and cider to all visitors and there will be plenty of food (including authentic German fare) available for purchase.

Hours for the Christmas in Zoar event are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 and noon - 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 8. Admission is $7 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.
