An all-star line up of music greats paying homage to the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix March 4th at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara begining a 17 stop tour across the nation. "The Experience Hendrix Tour is a unique opportunity for fans to experience the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix in a way that CDs simply cannot offer," explains Janie Hendrix, Jimi's little sister, President & CEO of Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. "We felt strongly that a live presentation of the music that Jimi Hendrix created and which inspired him would be an exciting and unique way of conveying his relevance to today's audiences."
Experience Hendrix Tour 2010 features artists who will perform music written and inspired by Jimi Hendrix. Some of the best known and most respected artists in contemporary rock and blues will headline this legendary tour with Billy Cox, Jimmy's friend and bandmate. Joe Satriani, Jonny Lang, Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, Doyle Bramhall II, Ernie Isley, Living Colour, Double Trouble’s Chris Layton will jam along with bassist Billy Cox.
Cox, who first befriended Hendrix when the two were in the 101st Airborne Division of U.S. Army, played in both the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys and performed with Hendrix at such landmark festivals as Woodstock and the Isle of Wight. Cox commented, “It’s a thrill for me to play Jimi’s music for audiences now as it was in the 1960s.” “It’s a sad dog that don’t wag its own tail,” says Billy Cox, “But I had the privilege to play in Gypsy Sun & Rainbows at Woodstock, the Band Of Gypsys at the Fillmore, and with the Experience. So I played with all three of Jimi Hendrix’s things—in fact, all four: I played with the King Kasuals when we were in Nashville.”
