Here at our travel agency, our customers are constantly asking what there is to do at the many ports of calls in the Caribbean. Sure, you can snorkel, swim with dolphins, go shopping and hit the beach, but, did you also know that in Cozumel, Mexico, you can actually take a cooking class?
Josefina Gonzalez Luigi is referred to as "everyone's favorite Mexican Aunt". She lives in El Centro in Cozumel Mexico, one of the oldest and safest neighborhoods. Her home is strategically located in the San Miguel area. Ships normally dock in one of four locations in Cozumel, Mexico. From Punta Langosta Pier, you can expect a 10 minute walk to Josefina's home which is centrally located on Third Street. From any of the other ports, we highly recommend that you take a taxi.
Classes normally begin anywhere from 11 a.m., in the morning to 2:00 p.m., in the afternoon. Josefina will actually take you shopping at a local market for all the ingredients you need to prepare your meal in her kitchen. She has set items on her menu for preparation and does take into consideration dietary need. Josefina is completely bilingual so no problem with a language barrier will be had.
You can find her website using the link below. Check out her website, email her with any questions you may have.
I'd love to hear from my readers who have attended one of Josefina's classes. This is such a great alternative to simply visiting Cozumel and heading to the beach, especially if Cozumel has been a frequent stop during your past cruising vacations.
Some say, this is the best authentic Mexican meal to be had in all of Cozumel.
Did you know that fried grasshoppers are considered to be a favorite and popular snack in Cozumel, Mexico, which receives over 2 million cruise passengers each year? That's a lot of fried grasshoppers!
Looking forward to hearing from my readers!
