Experience an 1800's Christmas at Historic Jefferson Depot Village

The historic Jefferson Depot Village in Jefferson, Ohio is giving visitors the opportunity to turn back the hands of time and to experience a 19th century Christmas at their annual Williamsburg Christmas celebration on Saturday, December 7. It is approximately a one hour drive from Cleveland to Jefferson.

Williamsburg Christmas Taking place from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., the Williamsburg Christmas celebration includes a multitude of family-friendly, educational activities that will bring that special Christmas feeling alive in guests of all ages.

During a tour of this preserved "living history" village, visitors will be able to learn about life in the 1890's and experience a Christmas celebration from that era. Costumed villagers will impart information about each of the historic buildings in the Village.

Activities include sleighbell wagon rides, playing early-era children's games, caroling around the piano and the pot bellied stoves, making a Victorian ornament and viewing ice sculptures. Kids will have the chance to break a pinata and gather the prizes hidden inside. You even have the opportunity to enter a gingerbread house contest in the 1872 Depot.

Visitors can also enjoy a Christmas musical at 4:30 p.m. being presented in the Village's "Church in the Wildwood" and witness a Live Nativity in the 1849 barn.

Don't miss the Candlelight Walk through the decorated Village being offered from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.. After strolling the candlelit Village, you will stop at the 1888 Victorian House where a butler will greet you and invite you in for cookies and wassail (punch).

Of course, St. Nicholas will be there at the festivities to welcome young and old alike.

Other historic buildings in the Jefferson Depot Village opened for viewing include the 1838 Spafford one-room schoolhouse, Hohn's General Store, an 1860 pharmacy, a blacksmith shop and an 1845 post office. In addition, there is a 1918 caboose to tour.

Admission to the Williamsburg Christmas celebration at Jefferson Depot Village is free but donations would be appreciated. Parking is also free.
