You and your husband either planned getting pregnant for baby number 2 or you didn’t. Either way you find yourself pregnant. What do you do know? You have set up your doctor visit, tell your family, tell your first baby, think about getting your house ready, and figuring out what you already have and what you need. Probably many more things also and they will come to you during your pregnancy.
First thing is deciding on when and how to tell everyone. You may decide to tell them right away, or you may decide to wait farther on into your pregnancy. You and your husband need to agree on this. It won’t be a good situation if your husband tells his family, but you don’t tell your family. Your mom will be really hurt that she didn’t find our first, and that she didn’t find out from you.
You need to figure out if you are going to use the Doctor you used the first time or find a new one. There could be many reasons for finding a new one. If you didn’t like the way they did things at the doctor’s office, or if you weren’t comfortable about anything at all you should probably find a new Doctor. If you loved everything about your doctor, and you are still going to them for your yearly exams then of course give them a call. You need to call them and set up your first appointment. Every Doctor does things differently, so the first steps will be different for everyone.
You and your husband have to figure out how to tell your first child. Every family will do it in a different way and time. It all depends on how old the child is and how soon you want to tell everybody.
Figuring out what you already have and what you need will probably take your whole pregnancy. Also, while you are getting things ready you will begin to get your house ready. Get a room set up, or figure out how to have your children share a room. You will also probably be cleaning like a mad woman, especially at the end of your pregnancy.
Have fun and enjoy this pregnancy, for many it will be your last one.
