Speaking before a crowd last night at the Phoenix Convention Center in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, Phoenix Comicon Director Matt Solberg announced extended programming will be featured at this year's annual event.
The convention, now in its 10th year, will be held May 24th through May 27th. Growing by leaps and bounds, the con is adding to the vendor hall which basically doubled in size in 2011 from what it had been in the con's first PCC venture in 2010. The convention had previously been held in Mesa, Arizona.
New signature events announced by Solberg for 2012 include:
- three anime events
- a cosplay comedy roast
- the High School of the Dead party
- Ye Olde Carnival
- a Geek Speed Dating event
- a Dr. Who Party Like a Time Lord party and costume contest for the best doctor and companion
- the Bleeding Cool Fan awards sponsored by bleedingcool.com
Childrens programming announced includes:
- a Plants vs. Zombies Nerf game for kids
- Side Kick training
Building on previous events, the convention will have a free Steampunk Ball, a sci-fi party on Thursday evening and a Zenescope Appreciation Party.
Memberships are available online.
