Exorcism deaths: Brutal exorcism slays 2, mother stabs her other children in act

Exorcism deaths are horrifying readers today after it was confirmed that a young Maryland mother stabbed and killed 2 of her children this week. She then proceeded to stab her 2 others in a brutal attempted form of an exorcist ritual, though the latter’s wounds were not fatal. Local police have confirmed that they have the 28-year-old Zakieya Avery in custody and are charging her with a pair of separate counts of first-degree murder, in addition to another 2 counts of attempted murder. The Inquisitr shares the frightening details of this shocking case this Monday, Jan. 20, 2014.

The exorcism deaths may have involved a second woman taking part in the alleged exorcisms, but little information has been provided at this time on that front. The two victims of this terrible and brutal murder were 1-year-old Norrell Harris and his older sister Zyana Harris, only 2 years of age. Both children were said to be stabbed and slain by their mother while she was in a deranged state and believed that demons had possessed them. Both kids were killed, while the mother’s other children were also injured and have been rushed to local hospitals to be treated for their stab wounds. Their names have not been released, but none of them were over 10 years of age.

According to County police Chief Tom Manger in a statement about the double murder and exorcism deaths: “Cases like this are heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims.”

An emergency call was made this Friday morning from a neighbor, who grew suspicious when she said she saw “strange activity” happening over at the Avery home. She noticed a car was parked out in front of the house, while a door was open and a knife out in clear view.

Details of the exorcist ritual or brutal exorcism deaths have not been cited by local authorities at this time. However, suspects did say that the 28-year-old mother and likely another woman (thought to be a female accomplice in the slaying) were trying to execute a ritual ceremony that would be used to cast out evil demons and dark spirits from their children. In essence, by killing her children, Avery hoped to “set them free,” said the report.

The police concluded: “Investigators have learned that the two defendants believed that they were performing an exorcism on the 4 children. The investigation into this motive and other aspects of the crime continue at this point.”

The police continue to investigate, and again suspect that the other woman likely played a major role in the fatal stabbing of the children due to her presence at the crime scene: “Prior to officers arriving, two women exited the townhouse, retrieved the child and re-entered the home. Officers attempted to speak with the residents, but received no response at the door. ”
