Existence of God settled on the football field

Any given Sunday… anything can happen on the football field. In this case, it was any given Saturday and what happened on the football field was that Jesus (a.k.a. Tim Tebow) got his posterior handed to him.

Tim Tibow is apparently God’s champion on Earth. His signature move on the field is to kneel down and make a spectacle out of his prayers… usually on the Sabbath. It’s called Tebowing and every fundamentalist is doing it these days. It is quite the craze.

Last week, Tebow’s signature move and over religiosity was given credit for his teams “miraculous” victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the game, Tebow threw a total of 316 yards which many Christians believe was a reference to the Bible verse, John 3:16. This verse is often touted as the main message of the Bible and it was also the verse Tebow famously painted on his eye black while playing football in college.

Throwing the 316 yards and defeating the favored Steelers was seen as divine support from God by many religious believers. But on Saturday, the Patriots crushed the Denver Broncos (Tim Tebow’s team) with a score of 45 to 10. Clearly, we can infer from this that God doesn’t exist and that all those times that the Denver Broncos won a football game, they did it on their own without divine intervention. Either that or Jesus fumbled. ;-)
