If you like Star Wars and haven't seen the exhibit at the Indiana State Museum of Star Wars®: Where Science Meets Imagination, then you want to go this week as the exhibit will be moving to California on Sept. 2, 2013.
The Indiana State Museum’s popular exhibition explores the Star Wars® films, the real science behind them and the research that may someday lead to real-life versions of the technologies seen in the films. The exhibit also features props, costumes and models from all six Star Wars films.
The museum is encouraging visitors to bring their families. For an extra $5, small groups of visitors at a time can experience a four-and-a-half-minute trip to the edge of the universe in a full-size replica of the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon from Episode IV. The multimedia presentation explores what it would take to exceed the speed of light and what we’ve learned about our own galaxy. Featuring a proprietary sound system from Bose Corporation®, the recreated cockpit presents the technologies of 3Space™ audio systems, providing visitors with a realistic three-dimensional audio experience.
The Indiana State Museum is located in White River State Park in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. It is Indiana’s museum for science, art and culture, offering a place where you can celebrate, investigate, remember, learn and take pride in Indiana’s story in the context of the broader world. Even the building is a showcase of the best Indiana has to offer in architecture, materials and sculpture.
