One of the top ten reasons that couples lose interest in each other is lack of attraction. One or both spouse(s) may feel that the other has let themselves go since entering into wedded bliss. A husband may complain that his wife has gained more pounds than she should and she doesn’t wear lingerie to bed anymore. A wife may complain that her husband has grown a potbelly and he is no longer romantic. Why not be a part of the solution instead a part of the problem.
If your spouse has gained a few pounds, suggesting to your spouse that you both join a gym or take daily walks in the park, just might solve your problem. Belittling someone and tearing down his or her self-esteem never helped anyone. It has been proven that a spoonful of sugar goes a long way.
During many marriage counseling session, often times mediators find that while one spouse may throw stones at the other, they should be guarding their own glass houses. With the growing American Obesity rate, many counselors suggest that couples work together to become fit and healthy.
Many Piedmont Triad area gyms offer reasonable rates for gym memberships. The Rush Fitness Complex, for example, offers free two-week membership passes that allow couples to see if the gym route is the right choice for them. They also have a two-for-one membership special during the summer.
For many, going to the gym is not an option. Either they don’t want to pay membership fees or they are too embarrassed to work out with strangers.
There are other completely free options to getting regular exercise. One of the many beautiful attractions of the Piedmont Triad is its many natural parks. The Greensboro Arboretum is located at 401 Ashland Drive. The arboretum’s canvas is 17 acres of nature and is beautifully landscaped with various, flowers, plants and trees. It has a gazebo and nature trails, as well as a softball field and basketball court. Walking around the entire outskirts of the park takes approximately thirty minutes, and if walked at a moderate pace, it can burn up a lot of calories—approximately two-hundred and fifty.
This is only one of the many beautiful parks in Greensboro that allow couples to explore nature and reap health benefits at the same time. So, the next time you want to advise your spouse that you are not pleased with his or her appearance, join their plight. Throwing subtle hints won’t hurt either. Reminding your spouse the reasons you fell in love with them and the reasons you still love them is encouraging and is sure to get your dull, lifeless marriage back on the right track.
