Exercise Induced Collapse in Labrador Retrievers and other dogs

EIC or Exercise Induced Collapse which is common in Labrador Retrievers has been the topic of research since it was first discovered. EIC manifests itself in healthy dogs that collapse after vigorous exercise. Dogs that suffer from this often have more than one episode. Between episodes they return to normal with no side effects.

The AKC Canine Health Foundation has undergone an extensive study to determine what causes this phenomenon and have developed a test to study EIC. However, the tests results proved to be interesting in that they found there is more than one form of EIC.
