Sandi Anne Borowsky, told Beatles Examiner Aug. 30 she was shocked when she realized that the legendary Strawberry Field gates in Liverpool made famous by the Beatles had been vandalized. (You can see her pictures in the slide show.)
“When we came around the corner, we both just looked at each other with our mouths opened in shock & horror. Neither of us could believe what we were seeing. When we got closer to the gates we noticed (because Ian touched it) that they were still wet! We decided that it had just been done,” she said.
Sandi was in Liverpool to promote her new book, “The Trip of a Lifetime,” about visiting the Beatles hometown of Liverpool.
“A bit later we went to the Empress Bar. In talking with some men there, we found out that that Magical Mystery Tour bus was there right after it happened. It grabbed the paint cans and brushes and brought (them) to the police station.
Police are investigating the incident. No arrests have been reported at this writing.
