Famed Latino filmmaker and Oscar nominee, Guillermo Del Toro was a featured speaker at Boston's Brattle Theater recently to chat about his career and his latest collaboration with acclaimed author, Chuck Hogan. Del Toro and Hogan are celebrating the current release of their latest vampire novel, The Fall.
This latest installment in the duo's collaboration is a brutal and vivid tale of vampirism, which is also a sequel book to their first novel, The Strain. Both authors are riding high following the release of this latest effort.
Earlier this month, Hogan was celebrating the release of the Ben Affleck directed film, The Town, which is based on Hogan's popular novel, Prince of Thieves. The red carpet premiere of that film took place at Boston's famed Fenway Park with the film's stars meeting with fans and media.
However, though both authors were on hand for this event at the Brattle Theater, which was also sponsored by The Harvard Book Store, this night was clearly a showcase for fans to connect with Del Toro. Indeed, the famed director delivered a memorable evening filled with career anecdotes filled with humor and frank talk.
Del Toro chatted about his childhood love of gothic horror and vampire films. He also briefed fans on what to expect in this newest literary effort. This Oscar nominated director is a multi-talent with many interests and projects on the burner for the future.
Sadly, for those who love Del Toro's Hellboy film series, the director indicated a third installment in the series is unlikely. Del Toro is all for making a new chapter in the Hellboy saga, however Del Toro indicated his star, Ron Perlman, who has portrayed Hellboy in the previous films is not interested in revisiting the character.
Tim Estiloz of Boston Latino TV had a chance to chat with Del Toro after the event and the video of that exclusive interview can be seen below.
