Randy Bailey was the infamous "King of Gabon" during the 17th season of "Survivor," before he ultimately fell victim to a fake immunity idol. This time around, his time on the show was much shorter thanks to being perceived as "weak" and being a part of a minority alliance.
I talked to Randy, a longtime fan of the show, on Friday about his experiences.

Matt Carter: Was coming back an easy decision for you?
Randy Bailey: Yeah, it was. When they ask you to do, I did not even think twice. You have to do it!
Matt: Was there anyone else from Gabon you would have wanted to see out there, like maybe Corinne or Kenny?
Randy: I knew who was going out there before the game started. Corinne was asked to go; she had work commitments and couldn't go. That could have been the difference: you substitute Corrine for Daniel -- I mean Danielle, I don't even know her name -- there [would be] a different result last night.
Matt: What was the thought behind burning the buff? That was pretty epic to watch.
Randy: Epic in a good or a bad way?
Matt: Epic in a 'holy crap, I've never seen that before' way.
Randy: Well, another thing you hadn't seen before is someone getting voted out without speaking at tribal council.
Matt: So it wasn't just editing then.
Randy (laughs): No, it was editing! I had a lot to say. But what I did say would have been repetitive with what they had me say during confessionals and dialogue -- the Micronesia 2.0 and stuff. I've said it all before during the show so there was no reason to rehash it during tribal council.
The burning of the buff wasn't anger -- this was the first tribal council I've been to where I wasn't the slightest bit nervous. I knew I was gone, and I was just kind of saying 'to hell with the tribe...I don't need this buff anymore. Let's see if it's flammable.'"
Matt: If you were part of that L.A. social circle -- going to 'Survivor' events all the time -- do you think you would have lasted longer?
Randy: If I had been 28, which would put you in those social circles, hell yeah it would've mattered! If I live in L.A., I would go to those parties anyway. I don't particularly like a lot of those people. All they have is grasping onto 'Survivor' and those 15 minutes...yeah, it would've helped, but it wouldn't [have] helped because I'm not going to go to those parties. If I get asked back for season 28 if four years, I'm not going to go to any of those parties the next four years.
Matt: What did you think about Coach and his story-telling? Do you believe him?
Randy: I believe there is truth to every single one of them. I also believe some of them may be embellished. Knowing Coach, it works for him. The stories are entertaining and whether or not they're true has nothing to do with it.
