In the latest Nintendo Direct episode that was released on Jan. 23, Nintendo officially announced “X,” an action role-playing game that is coming exclusively to the Nintendo Wii U. The new title somewhat resembles “Final Fantasy Versus XIII” in terms of field exploration, real-time combat in addition to the use of high-tech guns, swords and vehicles. “X” is currently being developed by Monolith Soft, the same studio previously responsible for “Xenoblade Chronicles” on the Nintendo Wii in addition to the “Xenosaga” series. Nintendo will be handling the publishing duties for the upcoming game.
“Final Fantasy Versus XIII” was first announced in 2006 along with “Final Fantasy XIII” and “Final Fantasy Type-0.” The Playstation 3 exclusive spin-off “Final Fantasy” title is still in development at Square Enix 1st Production Department and will be published by Square Enix.
