"TWIST & SHOUT: Soul Legends Celebrate The Beatles," the first in a series of NYCFAB50 events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' arrival in New York City, will take place Feb. 6 at the Apollo Theater, NYCFAB50 revealed to Beatles Examiner Dec. 30.

The event is just one of the star-studded charity concerts being held as part of New York City's NYCFab50 Beatles 50th anniversary celebration and will feature veteran music legends, including a star who toured with The Beatles and another whose father toured with them.

Tickets for "TWIST & SHOUT: Soul Legends Celebrate The Beatles" will go on sale to the public through Ticketmaster on January 7th, 2014, with an exclusive pre-sale available to Beatles Examiner readers.

Those appearing at the concert include Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer Lloyd Price, known for his hits "Personality," "Stagger Lee" and "Lawdy Miss Clawdy," which was covered by Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Elvis Costello and Gary U.S. Bonds, whose classic “Quarter to Three" appears on The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's “The 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll” list, and who was backed by the Beatles on an early tour.

Also on the bill are three-time Grammy winner Dee Dee Bridgewater; Bettye LaVette, who performed at a Beatles tribute at the Hollywood Bowl with Todd Rundgren, Patti Austin and others, been a part of the annual John Lennon charity tribute concert held in New York, and performed at the "Change Begins Within" concert at Radio City Music Hall in 2009 that featured both Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney; actor, director and screenwriter Melvin Van Peebles, who had an album released on Capitol Records, singer Barrence Whitfield, and Kitoto Von Hebb, the daughter of “Sunny” author/singer Bobby Hebb and great niece of Harold “Hal” Hebb, who was a member of the Marigolds. Bobby Hebb toured with The Beatles and his song "Sunny" reached #3 on the R&B charts, #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was awarded a gold disc.

Rich Pagano of the Fab Faux will be the musical director for the concert, and more performers are being added to the bill.

The Apollo Theater, at 253 West 125th St., has been the site of many famous concerts (James Brown recorded several live albums there). In 1983, the interior and exterior of the hall were designated as New York City landmarks. The building is also on the National Register of Historic Places. Paul McCartney played a concert there in December of 2010 that was broadcast by Sirius/XM Radio.

All of the net proceeds from ticket sales from "TWIST & SHOUT: Soul Legends Celebrate The Beatles" benefit the Food Bank for New York City. Further information is available at the website.
