Exclusive Interview with the Band Magic Man

The group Magic Man has been shooting for the stars and living their dream in 2014. This five piece group hails from Massachusetts with a musical style that is incredible. “Lead singer Alex Caplow and guitarist Sam Lee grew up together outside Boston…Justine Bowe, the band’s talented lone lady, plays keyboard. Joey Sulkowski is on drums, and Gabe Goodman…recently joined the crew on bass.” ( A great group of musicians that are currently selling out venues across the U.S and have recently been featured on VH1’s Morning Video Countdown.

To add to all of this unbelievable greatness, Magic Man has announced the release of their Columbia Records debut album, Before The Waves, on July 8. To celebrate the announcement of their album, Magic Man premiered the music video for “Out of Mind,”. Fans who pre-order Before The Waves on iTunes ( will instantly receive downloads of “Out of Mind” and four other tracks.

In support of Before The Waves, the band will headline their first-ever tour this summer. Kicking off on July 8 in San Diego, the tour will make stops along the West Coast, including their sold-out show at Los Angeles’ famed Troubadour (see below for full itinerary). After their headlining dates, the band will join Panic! At The Disco and Walk The Moon on The Gospel Tour for duration of the summer.

This Examiner was able to get an exclusive interview with the band, Magic Man:

Examiner: Where did you come up with the name Magic Man, there is a song by the name of Magic Man, correct?

Yes it is a song by the name of Magic Man, but we got the name from the sights and seeing’s that occurred when we traveled the South of France. There were crazy characters and magicians… we met a French guy whom called himself “The Magic Man”. He was one of our first supporters to hear the song, and that is how we came up with the name.

Examiner: What songs do you like the most on your new album?

Alex of Magic Man: It is hard to say, we literally produced hundreds songs for the album and we love them all, but the last song is really special.

Examiner: Explain the sounds and rhythms of your music?

Alex of Magic Man: We put a lot of energy into our live shows, there are a lot of layers of electronics, basses and drums. We try to be as energetic as possible when performing our music.

Examiner: What can your fans expect from the tour:

Alex of Magic Man: Be ready to be amped up, and have a good time. It is going to be a euphoric experience. We started off doing house parties; we are going to channel those house party energies. So no matter how large the stage is, we are going to have a very intimate experience with the crowd.

Examiner: Is there anything else you would like to add?

Alex of Magic Man: We are very excited about solo album and headlining the tour. We are looking forward to the tour starting off in San Diego.

There you have it! A great interview experience with the band Magic Man! Check out their music!
