New York native Ms. Sharon Quinn better known as “The Original Runway Diva” because of her style and confidence on the runway is the casting director for Full Figured Fashion Week.
Modeling comes natural to Sharon who began her career as a plus size runway model in the 80's when plus sizes were a rarity in fashion shows. Sharon is truly unforgettable, her presence, her confidence and her elegance are undeniable. She is six foot tall and with her signature shaved head she turns heads everywhere she goes.
In addition to her modeling, Sharon is also a vocalist and a musical theater performer.
She also teaches private runway instruction to aspiring models and travels around the country speaking to women, both young and older, about the power of loving oneself.
We had the privilege to speak with Sharon exclusively at the Full Figured Fashion Week Casting Tour 4th stop sponsored by Lane Bryant that was held yesterday in Orlando.
EFR: How has the FF Week casting tour experience has been for you so far?
SQ: It has been absolutely amazing. I like going on the road especially with my BFF Gwen DeVoe and seeing the all the women and their enthusiasm. I like talking to them, spending time with them. They give me so much love and that’s very important to me.
EFR: What are you looking for the most in the FFF Week auditions?
SQ: It helps to be pretty. I also want strong walks and confidence. Basically the three P’s: Poise, Posture and Personality.
EFR: What advice would you give to aspiring plus size models that are coming to the auditions?
SQ: The best advice that I could give them is to do their homework. We posted the requirements on our website www.fffweek.com. Girls are showing up with no pictures, bad pictures or the wrong shoes. Preparation is the key. Dress like is an interview, you only get one chance make it a good one. No excuses come prepared. Even if you never model before is ok, if we see potential in you we will work with you.
EFR: You are so confident in your own skin, tell us your secret?
SQ: I like me. I am cool with me. I am not worry about what other people say or think about me. What is important is what I think of me and I like me.
EFR: We always like to end our interviews by asking our guest for some words of wisdom or a favorite quote, what is yours?
SQ: “Surround yourself with positive people & positive things”.
