The Musicians Mastermind Alliance, Mario's latest vision, recently held it's first meeting last month at Hogan's Beach in Tampa. The event had a great turnout for it's very first meeting, filled with local musicians and other music scene personalities looking to network with one another and share suggestions on how to improve the local music scene.

What exactly is the Musicians Mastermind Alliance? Mario was gracious enough to answer that question for the St. Petersburg Live Music Bar Scene Column, along with other questions regarding the Alliance as well. The following is the result of Mario’s conversation with us...

Keith Wilkins -

“When and where did you start the Musicians Mastermind Alliance?”

Mario Vitali -

“I started the Musicians Mastermind Alliance in Sarasota two years ago, and decided to do it in Tampa where there are more musicians to reach.”

Keith Wilkins -

“What exactly prompted you to start the Alliance in the first place?”

Mario Vitali -

“I have always had a passion for music and business. I have studied the music of business for most of my adult life, but haven’t quite placed how I could utilize it. I went to a music seminar in Los Angeles a few years ago and knew that was what I wanted to do. I have a passion for helping musicians get to the next level of their careers and leading them to make contacts. I take every opportunity to further my education in the business of music and internet marketing. Most business organizations deal with different kinds of businesses. I just wanted to focus on music and the industry."

Keith Wilkins -

“What is the purpose for the Musicians Mastermind Alliance?”

Mario Vitali -

“The purpose of the Musicians Mastermind Alliance is for everyone in the business... musicians, agents, promoters, venues... to get connected and to get plugged in. I have seen to many musicians out just for themselves and in this day and age it is not just enough to make music. Of course you do need talent and it is very important, but talent is really only about 20% of success in this business. I know quite a few musicians don’t like to hear that, but it is the truth. The other 80% is marketing, promotions, and making contacts. You can be the best talent in the world, but if no one knows [who] you are out there, how will you ever be recognized? The old adage, “Build it and they will come”, just doesn’t apply anymore. You need to make connections and build relationships. And that is what the Musicians Mastermind Alliance in conjunction with Our City Radio is all about. Building relationships and making contacts.”

Keith Wilkins -

“Speaking of Our City Radio, tell me more about that. How did you get involved with the station, and how does it work in conjunction with the Alliance?”

Mario Vitali -

“When I got off the road from touring with the Cole Bros. Circus back in November, I also received an opportunity to manage an internet radio station... Our City Radio. I have just recently taken over the position as Network Manager for Our City Radio [where] you can also upload originals on this site and if approved, will be out there for the world to see. Our City Radio is only four years old and we already have 70 networks in the US, 10 in Europe, and 5 in Canada, so the opportunity to get your music out to the masses is limitless. Between the Mastermind Alliance and managing the radio station, the opportunity to get your music exposed to the world is limitless."

Keith Wilkins -

“You held the first meeting for the Alliance last month, and plan on continuing to hold future meetings as well. Tell me, who can attend these meetings?”

Mario Vitali -

“Anyone who has a serious interest in networking within the music industry... This is not for the musicians that is only interested in getting a paycheck. This is for the serious musician that wants to educate themselves, get connected and share their music with the world.”

Keith Wilkins -

“What is it that you do at the Alliance meetings? What can one expect who attends the meetings?”

Mario Vitali -

“We introduce ourselves, share with each other what we hope to accomplish and get connected. You could be a vocalist looking to join a band, you could be a band looking for [a] vocalist, drummer, [or] guitar player, or you could be a venue looking to book musicians. We also try to have an open Jam at the end of every meeting to give the artist a chance to showcase their talent. Whatever your needs are, our goal [is] to help you reach yours. “The sky is the limit on what can take place. You will definitely make contacts. I would like to see each musician come away with something positive that they can apply to their career. It is my belief that you are only one idea from Super Stardom. I don’t want to hold just another meeting. I want you to come away with something concrete that you can apply to your life.”

Keith Wilkins -

“Where do you hold these meetings?”

Mario Vitali -

“We meet at Hogan’s Beach Tampa... 7700 W. Courtney Campbell Causeway”

Keith Wilkins -

“How often do you hold the meetings?”

Mario Vitali -

“We try to hold our meetings once a month... We are very open to holding it more often as we grow.”

Keith Wilkins -

“Does it cost anything to attend the Alliance meetings?”

Mario Vitali -

“Doesn’t cost anything. Just buy your own lunch if you choose to do so.”

Keith Wilkins -

“When do you plan on holding the next Alliance meeting?”

Mario Vitali -

“Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25th, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. We invite all musicians and music service providers to our next meeting... and we also have an open jam afterwards, so bring your instruments.”

Keith Wilkins -

“I was honored that I got to be one of the guest speakers at last months meeting, but what about the next meeting coming up... Do you have a guest speaker scheduled for it yet?”

Mario Vitali -

“We do have a guest speaker for this event. Shelby Suggs will be talking about business economy in the local music in today's poor economy.”

Keith Wilkins -

“How could someone find out when future meetings will be held? Is there a website or some other place where someone can contact the Alliance?”

Mario Vitali -

“You can also connect with us by asking to join our Facebook group to find out more info.”

Keith Wilkins -

“Moving forward, what is it that you hope to eventually accomplish through the Musicians Mastermind Alliance?”

Mario Vitali -

“We hope to build a network of musicians in the Tampa Bay area and throughout the state of Florida that will help each other to learn and grow. With my position with Our City Radio, that will be more of a reality. We are also planning on having seminars and workshops to help the indie artist get educated. I am in the planning stages of having a statewide conference. We are looking at Orlando for this event, What are the organizations future goals? To hold these meetings throughout the state of Florida. We would eventually like to hold these meetings in every major city in Florid, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville and maybe Tallahassee and hold conventions and workshops. We also are planning on bringing in guest speakers who are experts on a particular subject regarding the business.”

Keith Wilkins -

“So, when all is said and done, what’s the payout for you... what do you get out of it?”

Mario Vitali -

“When I have musicians come up to me and thank me for what I am attempting to do for them, well, that is a reward in itself.”
