Williams has been singing his whole life. Some of his influences includes an eclectic selection of music such as James Taylor, Frank Sinatra and Whitley Houston, just to name a few. At the young age of 11, he found himself studying music three times a week with James Houghton, an accomplished opera performer and Dean of Music at Boston University. This went on for many years until he left for college. It was at this time that he decided to hold off on music and focus on his love of writing. Although he has had several different offers over the years, he is more interested in not selling out, which is admirable in the entertainment business of today. “I didn’t want to be another musician who didn’t make it,” he explained. In fact, he ended up becoming a successful author of children’s books, which was another passion of his. This led to his writing the script and music for one of his most popular works, The Easter Egg Adventure.

It wasn’t until about five or six years ago that Williams began thinking about music seriously again. Never being the type of artist who conforms to what is popular, he takes his passion for music and creates something that is all his own. He’s also not one to perform other people’s music. “I like singing my own music with my messages and my emotions,” he explained. His emotion filled messages come out strong in his lyrics and music.

It’s not easy for a person to be an individual these days without being treated differently. His strong conviction for being his own person, and to never conform, has to do with his many life experiences. Williams has had many interesting life experiences along the way, and they have been the milestones that have made him the artist he is today. At the young age of 19, he faced his own mortality when facing heart surgery. This undoubtedly made himself examine his life more closely. “I would never do anything just to make it…if you don’t please yourself then you’ll never be happy,” he said.

Williams has written numerous scripts and accompanying music for documentaries that look for the truth and reasons for certain events that have happened. One such documentary had to do with his moving song, “Didn’t Fit In.” The idea for the project began when he heard about several young people who had been found hanged in the small Welsh town of Bridgend, which is north of London. It was found that the tragic deaths were from suicide. It was one of the most traumatic things that he’s ever seen or heard of, but it wasn’t the first.

One of Williams’ best friends from his youth passed away from suicide, so the story hit him hard. “The CDC has recently released statistics that more Americans commit suicide that in car accidents. The activism is reflected in my music…it’s reflected in “Didn’t Fit In.” He continued, “It’s a universal condition. We all have insecurities…society is more connected than ever and that can be so isolating…to be at home alone at the computer.” This particular song is one that is designed around a sampling of humanity, and is full of so many things such as despair, hopelessness, and then hope.

The song, “Didn’t Fit In,” can be seen HERE. It’s a moving piece that’s focused around anti-bullying. So many people, young and old, are affected by bullying every day. Williams does his part in conveying his message to the world by delivering a song that comes straight from his heart and soul. For anyone who has every felt inferior or criticized for being different than everyone else, the song will rock you to the core and help you find the way out to the other side.
