Exclusive interview with 'Braxton Family Values' star: Traci Braxton

Traci Renee Braxton was the third child born to Michael and Evelyn. Due to her decision to settle down and start a family early in life, Traci still searches for her rightful place in the entertainment industry. She lives in Maryland with her husband, Kevin and son, Kevin Jr. In addition to being a talented writer and singer, Traci contributed much of her adult life to social work for children with disabilities. Traci is currently in the process of opening her very own salon soon. Traci is described as the "realest" Braxton and viewers fell in love with her on their hit reality show on We Tv, "Braxton Family Values". Please read my interview with Braxton below:

Examiner (Antony Bowles): How did you bring in 2013, and did you make a New Years resolution?

Traci Braxton: “I was with my girls and I had my son drive us as our designated driver, since he got his license. My number one resolution is to watch my mouth! My second resolution is to be closer with my family.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): How did you and your sisters enjoy the past holiday season?

Traci Braxton: “We didn’t do anything really spectacular…we called each other and laughed about the last year that had passed. We’re just happy that we are all here for this year.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): What have you learned about yourself from seeing yourself in season 2 of “Braxton Family Values” compared to season 1?

Traci Braxton: “I think that I’ve stayed the same, but I will say that I’m more kinder with my words. I think in season one, I was kind of reserved and didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but with season two I think that I was more verbal than anything.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): How was it for you letting the cameras into your personal life?

Traci Braxton: “At first I didn’t like it, because my family was raised by the old school, which meant we kept everything reserved within the family, and don’t share what goes on behind closed doors. Then now we’re all put in a position where people can start judging us, they start making their own opinions, but not really getting the full understanding of what’s going on. On the other side I think that the show has helped a lot of other families that share the same issues I did with mine.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): Why do you think viewers can easily relate to your character on the show?

Traci Braxton: “I’m the third child, and a lot of the viewers have other siblings and when you’re in the middle, people can relate to that. I’m very reserved and quiet, but I’m always observing.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): Do you think doing the show with your sisters helped strengthen your relationships or did it do the opposite?

Traci Braxton: “I think that it’s both, because no family is perfect and that’s the bottom line. You have those moments when everyone is very close, and then you have those moments when you just can’t stand her. We’re normal, sometimes I just want to relax and spend time with my sisters, but they can work on my nerves just like the next person.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): Did you feel that being on TV encouraged you to successfully accomplish your goals, particularly opening your salon?

Traci Braxton: “Yes! The workings of my salon are still in the making, so please do not give up on me, but something like this takes time.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): What would be your advice to other young aspiring business women?

Traci Braxton: “Know your plans in life, reach for your goals, and strive to be the best that you want to be.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles):How do you find balance, between your role as a wife, mother, and business woman?

Traci Braxton: “You have to take time for everything…you have to take time to be a mother, you have to take time to be a wife, and you have to take time for your business. I’ve learned that you cannot mix the three, and once you mix it, you’ll be all over the place.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): How proud are you of Tamar’s new single and what can you say about Toni’s upcoming album?

Traci Braxton: “I love her single! The same as Toni when her single came out, and I’m proud of all my sisters, they’re striving and most importantly they love what they are doing.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): When can your fans and viewers anticipate music from you?

Traci Braxton: “I’m like a to be continued cartoon! That’s how I feel right now (laughs).

Examiner (Antony Bowles): What kept you going while you were on your journey to lose weight?

Traci Braxton: “Not being on these pills and my insulin, and I do have a son and a family, but most importantly I want to see him grow up and be there for him. I’m at a healthy weight, but I have to work harder than then next person, my workout regiment is not going to be like my other sisters, it has to be for my body type. For me to stay healthy, I have to work out and make sure my body is right.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): How have you successfully been able to keep the weight off?

Traci Braxton: “Workout, I know if I’m going to have a cheeseburger, I know I then have to run an extra mile. I have to burn it off faster than I eat it, but food is good, I’m not going to starve myself, I’m going to eat! (laughs).”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): How is it living in the DMV area?

Traci Braxton: “I love it, I can’t wait for it to snow! I love this area and having my four seasons. I think that everyone should experience the DMV area at least once in their lives.”

Examiner (Antony Bowles): Lastly, what can fans and viewers expect from you in 2013 and what are your goals, and can you give any details about season 3?

Traci Braxton: “My goals are to stay successful, continue to be humble, and to stay true to myself. For season 3…to be continued (laughs). Lastly, I really do appreciate the viewers and the fans, their support means a lot to me.”

Be sure to stay tuned for season three of "Braxton Family Values". as new episodes are expected to air this coming March.
