Last night fans saw Brian Pounds on "The Voice" 2013 as he impressed with the song "Wagon Wheel" by Darius Rucker. On Oct. 8, Examiner was given the chance to interview this up and coming star about his time on the show. What did you think of his performance?
If you are a reader from Oklahoma, it was interesting to talk to Brian because he has family from this area. He has actually spent a lot of time in the small areas of Northern Oklahoma and now lives in Austin, Texas. His grandfather even has a family wheat field in Wakita where the movie "Twister" was filmed.
Brian made the choice to sing "Wagon Wheel" because this is an amazing song that is comfortable for him. He has been singing it live for a while now and always gets a great response from the crowd with this one.
He actually did his original audition almost a year ago, but the blind audition only happened a few months ago. Pounds was able to tell his friends and family he auditioned, but until last night none of them knew if he had made it through or not. The last 24 hours has been a whirlwind for him as his phone and social networks blow up.
Brian admits that when he went onto the show he had plans to pick CeeLo Green as his coach. He likes the way that CeeLo helps out his team and pays so much attention to him. In the moment on stage, he just felt like the right choice was Blake Shelton and went with it. Fans can see Brian Pounds next in the battle rounds starting next week.
