The timer is symbolic of the local performance company’s enthusiasm for dance, music and theater. Dallas Salsa Examiner was able to witness their passion first-hand as a guest at one of their last dress rehearsals. A superior choice for Valentine’s Day date night, Dawn presents a poignant look at love from an artistic vantage point. Witty, honest, evocative and on point (but not en pointe), it personifies the path of love from point A to point Z. The production relies on the synergy of music, motion and drama to tell its story and the method is rather effective. With all senses engaged, the spectator is better able to appreciate the depth and dimension of Epiphany’s message.

The show’s choreography mirrors the tone and mood of the music, an impeccable selection ranging from Mumford & Sons to Etta James. The monologues flit from light-hearted humor to deep, though-provoking “eureka!” moments. The experience of Dawn is much like that of love itself.

Sometimes we become so set in our routines and caught up in la vie quotidienne that we lose sight of the magic that exists in our lives. Years, disappointments and heartbreaks can all skew our views. We need to look at the world from a different vantage point, from a new set of eyes.

Dawn: A Love Story is a great choice of filter to look through, whether it’s Valentine’s Day or not.

About Epiphany DanceArts

Epiphany DanceArts is a professional Dallas-based performance company established in February 2010 comprised of more than 15 accomplished female “DanceArtists.” Inspired by the diversity of performing arts and drawing from multiple genres, Epiphany’s productions bring to light what they call “DanceArts.” Classical ballet, jazz and modern dance forms fused with drama and live vocals make the nascent company stand out among its contemporaries. In two short years they have already garnered a large fan base that expands exponentially with each performance.

About Their Mission

Epiphany DanceArt’s mission statement is, “We believe art should illuminate a glimpse of something beyond ourselves – something sacred.” Michael DeGroat, Business Director, affirms that they strive to provide their audience with “…an integrated, holistic experience.” He says DanceArt should be about more than just the artist or just the audience because it’s bigger than that. Epiphany believes the whole of art is indeed greater than the sum of its parts. They exemplify this philosophy with their Artistic Outreach Program, through which they routinely volunteer at hospitals, schools and church programs.
