Let me clarify that--the MMA world is still buzzing over the decision of Saturday’s main event. In what was somewhat of a letdown to fans and pundits, Diaz vs. Condit was more a cautionary tale than anything else.
A tale of caution to a fighter like Carlos Condit, a man who has made his career of exciting fights that usually end in a finish. However, on Saturday, Condit used a more methodical approach to his fight with Diaz. He retreated and used stellar lateral movement and counter-punching to eke out a decision over Diaz that left fans wanting more.
Sure, fans got the five-round maximum the Championship fight would allow. However this was a fight that could seemingly have gone five more rounds to decide a victor.
Fans are at odds as to who actually won the bout. Should Diaz have gotten the nod for his relentless pressure and fight ending takedown, or does Condit prevail because of his movement and counter punching.
