In the metal, punk and hard rock world there are many people who say they enjoy the music and lifestyle yet are timid to say so in public. Then there are those who raise the metal flag proud and tell the world they do. This month we start our new series of articles called "Celeb Metal Heads" where celebrities and even some “average rockers on the street” tell us why they love metal and hard rock music as well give us a sneak peek into their lives. For this very first interview we are happy to name as well as have a nice conversation with actress, wrestling personality, author, music hostess, and true metal fan, the lovely Jasmin St Claire.
Examiner (Keith Ashley): Thanks for doing this interview, for the average reader tell us a little about yourself.
Jasmin St Claire: Thanks you & it’s no problem. I like doing interviews for cool publications such as this. I used to work for ECW wrestling until they shut down in 2001 as a wrestling manager. Then from 2001-2004 I worked for other promotions such as NWA/TNA, XWF and then I opened up & ran my own company called 3PW which i eventually shut down due to greed from co-workers. I started hosting a DVD zine series called Metal's Darkside where I interviewed many great extreme metal bands. Later stared hosting the Metal Scene TV Show Stay Heavy TV (Brazil), Inferno TV & I just finished doing work for AOL Noisecreep when I interviewed many of the headliners at this year's Inferno festival. So I have been doing that from late 2004 until April of this year. I also did some acting. The most recent film is Trial Run & now I’m going back east to shoot an episode for a show on the Discovery Channel & other shows. In the midst of all this, I wrote an autobiography.
Examiner: What band or bands got you interested in the hard rock & metal world?
Jasmin St Claire: I was always a huge Iron Maiden fan. A few other bands I really liked, and still do to his day are Carcass, Judas Priest, Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse, Overkill, Overdrive, Motorhead and King Diamond to name a few. I was always huge fan of the music. Never understood the fascination women had with the guys.
Examiner: What was the best concert you have ever attended? What is your best concert memory?
Jasmin St Claire: Wow. That is really a hard question to answer since I have been to my fair share of concerts. Best concert memory was meeting Iron Maiden when I was a teenager; it was the tour Jannick Gers joined on. They were some of the nicest guys I met & my first real set of rock stars. I was rather impressed by how down to earth & great they were with fans. I was also really taken aback by how fluent Bruce Dickinson was in French since that is like a second language to me, I’ve been speaking French since the age of 5. My best festivals have been Bloodstock & Inferno Festivals. Those are the 2 best festivals in Europe that are great all around.
Examiner: What band or bands would you have loved to see live but never had the chance to?
Jasmin St Claire: I’ve seen every band I always wanted to, but would love to see the following bands again: King Diamond, Arch Enemy, Cannibal Corpse, Volbeat & Ghost. I haven’t seen some of these bands in ages
Examiner: How do you feel metal/punk music can get the ever important “push” in today’s world of prefabricated acts & cookie cutter talent show pop acts?
Jasmin St Claire: It’s hard to say, but I would think maybe participating in non-metal events / TV shows that cater to more mainstream audiences would be a start. Hopefully larger & more mainstream media would then take note. Perhaps hiring people to do press that had the right contacts in other markets outside of metal would also work.
Examiner: Those are some great points and ideas Jasmin! We’re very glad to have you as our first Celeb Metal head guest, so thank you again, is there anything else you’d like to tell the readers?
Jasmin St Claire: I am currently involved in a lot of acting work and I work as a VJ when the gig is a paying gig, keep updated on my twitter, my Instagram, my official blog ,my only official site: www.officialjasminsctlaire.com, and my official Facebook fan page since my friends page is full.
For all things Jasmin St Claire please check out her official links for any updates and future projects. We will be doing these Celeb Metal Head interviews as often as we can so keep an eye out and you never know who may show up to tell us about their love for the metal and punk rock scene.
