Carmindy is an inspiring makeup artist who has formulated a line of makeup to enhance women's beauty as opposed to covering it up. After her continued success as the resident "What Not To Wear" makeup artist, the launch of her HSN exclusive beauty line, Carmindy & Co. will premiere during HSN’s weekly Beauty Report on Thursday, Feb. 27. With the sheer foundations and shadows, the line is foolproof. There is no more guesswork on which eye shadow flatters the eye, or which foundation matches the complexion exactly. Everything is packaged together in a Five Minute Face Kit that features everything in a multistep routine, but without the hassle. She also wants to empower and celebrate everyone’s unique features with her line and break free from the industrial idealized beauty. Today on Feb. 16 we are excited to share our exclusive interview from the Empire Hotel.

What prompted you to start a cosmetics line?

I was a makeup artist for 20 years, and it wasn’t until I started working on "What Not to Wear," that I got to work with women of all ages, all skin tones, all skin types, that were looking for products and ways to enhance their natural beauty. I was inspired by these women, we aren’t walking a red carpet, we aren’t trying to look like so and so, we just wanted to look like ourselves, but better. So I created a makeup line that was based on their lifestyle. They told me that they don’t have time in their lifestyle for a multistep routine they wanted to get ready quick and easy. So I created this line, with makeup that just brings out the skin and makes it beautiful and created highlighting products that that compliments the skin.

Tell us more!

Women are like flowers, no two flowers are the same. There are different types of flowers and they are all unique and beautiful. So makeup should be a celebration of their beauty and enhancing it, instead of painting on or hiding it. We get so caught up in trying to fit an industry standard of what beauty is. If everyone was supposed to look like a rose would you tear apart daffodils to look like a rose? Of course not! We can celebrate our uniqueness.

Five Minute Face consist of:
Love Struck Prisma Blush
Carmindizing Highlighter Duo
Elevate Mascara
Ever After Eye Pencil
Kiss Me Lip Butter
Cosmetic Bag

When you create all of these products do you try make these colors more universal to take the guesswork out of trying to find flattering shades?

Absolutely, it's about streamlining the beauty routine, taking the guesswork out of it, making it as simple and as fast as possible and you want to look at this line like your wardrobe. This is your perfect t-shirt or your perfect jeans. It's everything that you know is going to work and is your basic makeup wardrobe and you can build on top of this. Everything is paraben free and fragrance free and it doesn’t matter what color you are or what shade you are, it will work for you.

Do you have any tips on how to match yourself to this line?

All the foundations are formulated to be sheer and blend well, so a wide range of complexions could fit the color. With only four colors you’re not overwhelmed with the selection and you can just pick the closest one to your skin tone. The foundation is a sugar derivative and it gellifies on the skin and moves easily so it doesn’t get "cakey."

MesmerEyes Smokey Eye Kit:

I want to go on HSN and do mirror mantras and empower women to love themselves.
