Austin Mahone is reminding his fans to be safe over the summer months and he is hoping everyone who loves his music hears his important message. The star is teaming up with the Allstate Foundation to challenge teens to get there safely during the Global Youth Traffic Safety Month this May and throughout the summer. Talking to Examiner.com exclusively on Thursday, he discussed the concerns of teens hitting the road over the summer months.
“We should always have each other’s backs, and this program lets us do that when it really counts behind the wheel,” said Austin Mahone. The Allstate Foundation’s #GetThereSafe program reminds teens that the responsibility of getting behind the wheel is serious.
Driving teenagers who engage in three risky behaviors can cause teen crash fatalities. Speeding, failure to wear a seat belt and distractions caused by passengers in the car top the list of big concerns over the summer.
“I first get in the car and buckle my seat belt,” said Austin Mahone. From there he thinks about making sure he isn’t distracted when he gets behind the wheel. That includes making sure his pals aren’t a distraction. “If they are too noisy, I tell them to chill out.”
Austin Mahone is happy to start the conversation about safe teen driving. Sharing that he got his driver’s license only a year ago, he makes a point to avoid risky behavior just like he suggests to his fans. Driving around his home, the chance to get behind the wheel has the star thinking about being safe every time he drives.
So what is Austin Mahone’s next big project? While the star is busy trying to make a difference in the lives of other teens, he is getting ready to drop his EP on May 27. “The Secret” can be preordered on iTunes and fans have already grabbed copies of the hit single “Mmm Yeah” that features Pitbull.
Austin Mahone is one busy celebrity, but his efforts to help other teens is impressive. It’s great to see a star willing to share his name to remind everyone to have a safe summer. As for that forthcoming EP "The Secret," pick yourself up a copy (and we preordered already too) as it is going to be epic.
The Allstate Foundation’s #GetThereSafe program starts today and runs through August 8. Teens across the country will have a chance to show where and how they get there safely by entering the #GetThereSafe Challenge. The winning high school will receive a meet and greet with Austin in the fall.
