New Orleans bred singer August Alsina held court at the Hudson Hotel last night (March 26th) for a rather private and intimate listening of his Def Jam debut, Testimony, slated to hit stores on April 15th. Previewing a handful of records from the impending LP, the “I Luv This Sh*t” singer sat front and center, as he and Power 105 radio personality Angela Yee (who also hosted the event) dug deep into the concept of the album, and candidly delved into the importance of his forthcoming debut opus– whereas he explained this specific piece of work to be a more defined balance of his previous EP release – and showcased a maturation of who he is artistically today.
Following a preview of the Fabolous and Pusha T assisted cuts respectively (“Grind & Pray / Get Your Money” and “FML”) while attendees took in the music and guzzled down free liquor per Def Jam’s open bar service, the 21 year-old was later presented with a gold plaque by Def Jam Records’ EVP Shawn Pecas for his certified hit, “I Luv This Sh*t,” to which caused August to become a little teary-eyed as he reflected on his past struggles and triumph as he had now surpassed the 500,000 mark for his single.
Due out on April 15, Testimony, will feature guest spots from Rick Ross, Fabolous, Yo Gotti, Pusha T, Jeezy, B.o.B. and many others. Fans can officially pre-order the full project here on iTunes and view the recap of the event in the [picture slide] to the left of the article.
