Are you and your dog bored with dog parks? Want to do something fun and different to commemorate the end of summer? Does your dog love the water? There are some great things coming up in the next couple of weeks, right here in the metroplex!
Saturday, September 7th, Bedford is having their 8th annual “Dog Splash Day.” There will be swimming, diving, retrieving, and costume contests all for only $5 per dog. Bedford is also hosting their first ever “2K-nine” walk/run at 8:30am until 9:30am for $10 an entry. The swimming will open at 10am and will continue until 2pm. This event sounds like a great way to fit both Fido and your workout into one day, definitely worth a look.
Also September 7th, the Harry Myers Park Pool in Rockwall hosts a “Doggie Splash Day.” The event only costs $5 per dog and lasts from 10am until 2pm. You and Fido will have lots of fun in the pool and sprinklers!
September 8th , University Park’s Holmes Aquatic Center invites University Park/HPISD residents to participate in a swimsuit/costume contest, a dog paddle race, and a retrieving contest. The pool opens to dogs and owners at 12pm and ends at 3pm. Owners entry cost $5 and any “spectators” to the event will be charged $1. Lucky University Park residents…
And finally, a family event that your pooch can be included in. September 15th, North Richland Heights NRH20 waterpark opens its door to pets and their owners with "Wags and Waves". For $20 admission, you and your dog can play in the wave pool or float on the “Endless River.” Their water slides will not be open, but Fido will be grateful you can’t drag them on the tube with you.
So there you have it. Exciting events to put on your calendar to mark summer’s end and include your beloved dog too. Remember your etiquette and to stay hydrated!
