Fans of the popular video game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may have run across an animation by AnimBows called Dovahbear. In the animation, a bear clad with the iconic Dragonborn helmet falls from the sky and proceeds to wreak havoc across the lands of Skyrim. After laying waste to hoards of fighters with his sword and shield, he heads into town on his horse and stops by the local pub. At the pub, he gets heavily drunk on bottles of honey mead for several hours. Finally, after he has had his fill he leaves the tavern to find a dragon outside. The Dovahbear shouts at the dragon with such sheer force, it instantly kills the beast.
Thanks to the skilled work of the user maymay1588 on the popular modding site, Skyrim Nexus, the powerful four-legged fighter can join the player as a companion. After downloading and installing the mod, the Dovahbear can be found in The Bee and Barb at Riften. After speaking to the Dovahbear once, he will instantly become your companion and fight alongside you.
The Dovahbear companion shares a few things in common with the animated counterpart. Currently, he wears the iconic helmet as well as shares a fondness for honey and mead. While at the moment, the Dovahbear in game doesn't differ from regular bears in Skyrim save for experience, the modder hopes to add the ability for him to shout and give him a skeleton so he can run on his hind legs and fight with weapons just like in the animated short.
It will be interesting to see more of this mod as it develops in the future. The latest version will always be available here.
