Excerpts of State of the Union Address released as Ted Nugent listens to Obama (Video)

Some of the State of the Union Address excerpts have been released on Feb. 12 as the President prepares to deliver the speech in front of his wife but not in front of his children since Sasha and Malia reportedly do not go out during school nights. However, as evidenced by a Getty Images photo, Ted Nugent was on hand as an invited guest to listen to what Obama had to say. So were members of the Sandy Hook community. Obviously, the subject of gun violence was expected as a topic for this televised speech.

Among his well crafted words released in advance of his speech by the White House was this sentence that had to do with the economy, not with guns. The President said, "It is our generation’s task, then, to reignite the true engine of America’s economic growth, a rising, thriving middle class.

He added, "It is our unfinished task to restore the basic bargain that built this country – the idea that if you work hard and meet your responsibilities, you can get ahead, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or who you love."

Obama also said, "It is our unfinished task to make sure that this government works on behalf of the many, and not just the few; that it encourages free enterprise, rewards individual initiative, and opens the doors of opportunity to every child across this great nation of ours."

Meanwhile, as these excerpts from the State of the Union address, as well as many others, are read and analyzed by pundits everywhere, the sun was setting on the U.S. Capitol building before President Barack Obama's speech.

This State of the Union Address on Feb. 12 was Obama's first for his second term.
