America first fell in love with Lauren Conrad in 2004 on the hit reality show Laguna Beach where she plucked at the country's heart strings with her unrequited love for Steven Colletti, and dazzled us all with a glimpse into the lives of Orange County's upper crust teens. The show is an unexpected success even to it's youthful cast of characters. Lauren told USA Today, “"It really was presented to us like a documentary. Nobody thought it was going to blow up like it did...definitely a different way to grow up." After an angsty season pitted against and losing to the feisty Kristin Cavalleri, Steven's younger girlfriend, L.C. moved to San Fransisco to study fashion at the city's Academy of Art University.
After spending the year at school, Lauren returns for another season in Laguna, this time with the focus on her rival, Kristin. By the end of the season Conrad has fallen for bad boy Jason Wheeler and by the end of the Fall has gotten her own spin-off following her move to Los Angeles called “The Hills” which premieres May 2006.
Featuring familiar characters Lauren and Jason “The Hills” follows Lauren as she embarks upon her new life in Fashion School with bestie, Hedi Montag, and working at Teen Vogue with Whitney Port. Viewers immediately fall in love with this winning cast, and “The Hills” is another huge hit for Conrad. By the 3rd season the show has become one of MTV's top rated shows, giving the cast a celebrity of their own.
As a cover girl for publications like Seventeen, Teen Vogue, and CosmoGirl, L.C.'s success has been fast and furious. She is the spokesperson for Avon's youth inspired cosmetic line, marc. Has her own line of clothes that are rumored to be hitting the racks at Walmart in 2009, and works relentlessly for The People's Revolution.
Unfortunately Lauren will be bidding farewell to “The Hills” after 5 seasons of sharing her life with the world. We will all miss Lauren, but her she will never be forgotten. Her mark on the world as a strong and successful woman has touched young girls nationwide. We all look forward to what the future holds in store for Lauren Conrad.

Oh Taina, I love your examination about Lauren Conrad. The only thing that's wrong is that her new low-priced line's at Kohl's, not Wal-Mart. That would be just insulting not only to her, but especially her fans. I've got many questions, theories, and ideas on why Lauren's leaving The Hills. I can only hope that Lauren's success is greater after she departs MTV, and that The Hills will find it hard to hold it's viewers after Lauren's out of the picture.

taina, thanks for giving me a shout out in your correction. i also wanna add more thoughts to the hills and lauren conrad. what made the hills really popular? it's the cast, and lauren conrad especially. seasons 1 to season 3 up to episode 319 were the greatest. but from episode 320 until now, it just got bad. don't even know where to begin, let alone determine. what happened? the blame goes to MTV, for many reasons. they focused too much on gearing toward the MTV audience which is slig

I know for a fact that if I watch Kristin, it's gonna be uncomfortable.
