The dark, murky underbelly of the bowery and the opium dens that resided there in the 1890's was the unlikely inspiration for this opulent Fall 2013 collection from the design team of Brian Wolk and Claude Morais.
Using shades of black, amber, purple, gunmetal and gold and textured fabrics of floral jaquard and metallic boucle, the duo created pleated peplum jackets that bring to mind the heavy draperies featured in the opium den posters of the era, and they were paired with bow blouses, slim trousers, pant suits and shift dresses. Oversized round sunglasses completed many looks and brought to mind Gary Oldman's turn in Bram Stoker's Dracula.
