GDP Says Recession Ends, Jobless Disagree
The National Bureau of Economic Research released data in September claiming the recession was over. Most of the 99ers are still jobless, and still have no extended benefits to claim. One expert claims that even if we are in recession recovery, the job market is still not likely to improve. President Obama announced a pay freeze for federal civilian employees, yet some members of Congress are getting richer.

Government Recovering Some Bailout Money
General Motors, one of the companies who received billions in government bailout money, is well on their way to repayment. In November, the company announced an IPO plan that will allow them to pay back a large portion of the debt. Meanwhile, the government has decided to end its short relationship with Citigroup by selling 2.4 billion shares. A potential profit on the sale is looming. 

Cyber Monday Gives Businesses a Boost
The biggest online shopping day of the year turned out to be very profitable for businesses offering online deals. Sales topped one billion dollars on November 29, with revenues rising 16 percent from 2009. Examiners covered all of the online deals available to shoppers

United and Continental Merge
On October 1, a merger between two of the largest airline carriers was completed. United Airlines and Continental are now operating under United Continental Holdings. So far, the perks of each airline, including mileage and frequent flyer programs, have remained the same.

Facebook Trademarks "Face"
The U.S. Patent And Trademark Office has sent Facebook a Notice of Allowance, which means it will grant the “Face” trademark to the popular social networking site. Facebook now has three months to pay an issue fee before they officially own the word.
