Examiner.com Helps Austin Residents Understand - This Is Public Health

Austin, Texas March, 5 2010 – Examiner.com is reporting on a campaign today to raise awareness of the important role public health plays in protecting the health and safeguarding the lives of Austin residents. The campaign utilizes stickers with the slogan “This is Public Health” placed in strategic locations around Austin to build awareness of the many ways in which public health impacts our well being.

Examiner.com wishes to further educate the residents about the role of public health in safeguarding our community against health crises including contagious and preventable diseases, food and water borne illnesses, and natural disasters.

The campaign is part of a broader national effort by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) and public health students at colleges and universities nationwide to focus public attention on the important role of public health in an increasingly interconnected world.

“We want to be sure that Austin residents know that ultimately, public health is your health,” from the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department web site. “The health of the places where we live, work and play influences individual health as much as personal hygiene, good nutrition and exercise. The ‘This is Public Health' campaign allows us to illustrate the many ways in which public health touches us all every day.”

The campaign is supported by a website – www.whatispublichealth.org, which contains information about the “This is Public Health Campaign” and other educational initiatives nationwide.

You can receive free stickers to use in the campaign by visiting the TIPH Stickers Request form today!
