In November 2011, Examiner.com announced the America Inspired contest. The contest celebrates local heroes that are making an impact in their communities all across America by giving them a chance to win $100,000 in cash prizes. Local Examiners had until December 23, 2011 to nominate a local candidate by profiling their story under the categories of: Leadership, Sacrifice, Passion, Overcoming Adversity & Outstanding Youth. On January 9th, 2012 Examiner.com announced the top 25 finalist that will compete to share $100,000 in cash prizes.
ASBE nominated two local candidates that have been selected as a part of the 25 finalist; Mackenzie Bearup, 18, Founder of Sheltering Books Inc and Charles Orgbon III, 16, CEO of Greening Forward. The top five winners will be selected by reader votes. Voting began on January 9, 2012 and ends January 27, 2012. Readers can vote once a day until the deadline. The winners will be announced February 1, 2012. ASBE would like to congratulate the 25 finalist for making a difference in their local communities and being selected to compete for the cash prizes. ASBE also encourages readers to read their amazing stories and vote daily until the deadline.
