Point guard Scott Machado is expected to sign with the Santa Cruz Warriors - Golden State's D-League affiliate - today according to a Yahoo Sports tweet late Monday. Reports of his impending return emerged prior to the recent D-League Showcase.

Machado, 24, helped Santa Cruz reach the D-League Finals last season averaging 6.5 points and 3.4 assists in 10 games. He later appeared in five playoff games with Golden State and was one of five rookies on the Warriors postseason roster.

He began the 2012-2013 regular-season playing in six games with the Houston Rockets averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 assists in 3.5 minutes per contest before being assigned to their D-League affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers and eventually traded to the Warriors.

He spent this off-season honing his skills in the SF Pro-Am and NBA summer leagues and had a strong preseason with the Utah Jazz before being waived on Oct. 26.

He takes the roster spot vacated by Dewayne Dedmon who signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.
